Exam 1 of 3: Patient Experience
Here at Willow Glen Dental Center, we are dedicated to ensuring that each experience you have in our San Jose, CA office is pleasant and enjoyable. Continue reading to learn what you can expect to experience during your dental examination.
X-Rays
To begin your visit, x-rays will be taken in order to ensure that there is no decay in the mouth that is not visible to the naked eye. If there are any spots in the mouth that the assistant or hygienist feels that the dentist may want to take a closer look at, additional x-rays of the area will be taken.
Your dentist will examine these x-rays during your examination in order to ensure that the teeth are not experiencing any decay.
Examination
Your dentist will complete a thorough oral examination, using their findings both from the physical examination and the x-rays.
During the exam, he or she will check the enamel of the teeth to ensure that there are no cavities or damage. They will then do a gum check to examine the health of your gums and to ensure that there are no signs of gingivitis or gum disease.
You can also expect to see the hygienist, who will complete your routine cleaning and will then educate you on proper techniques for brushing and flossing at home.
Treatment Plan
In most cases, upon your first visit with your dentist, he or she will design a comprehensive treatment plan for you. This treatment plan encompasses the entirety of the dental work that is needed to be done.
During your check up appointment, this treatment plan is revisited, and your dentist will inform you if he or she has found any new signs of decay or damage. In this case, the necessary treatment will be added to your plan, and your dentist will let you know what you can expect during the procedure.
Concluding Your Visit
After your dentist has finished examining both your teeth and your x-rays, he or she will take the time to answer any questions you may have and give you some final tips for managing your oral health at home.
Moving forward with the information you learned here, you will have a better understanding of what you can expect during your regular dental examinations.
